Portrait Experience

ME Photography in Nelson Bay is one of NSW’s most awarded portrait and wedding photography studios. You will be photographed by Linda Beks, awarded the best NSW professional photographer for 2016 and 2013!

If you’re looking for a photographer who doesn’t just settle for standard images, but who captures the wow factor, you’ve come to the right place.

I discuss every aspect with you to ensure we capture everything that is most important to you! I create unique images and wall art that reflects the way you are, not the “staged look” you don’t recognise yourself in. My aim is to photograph you and when you look back at your images, you think, “Yes, this is totally ME.” Most of my clients are after wall art to transform their home. If this is you, let’s talk!

Step 1 – Book Your Session

Sessions are available from Monday to Friday beginning at 9am with the last appointment at 5pm. Evenings are available on Tuesday and Thursday. Be advised, Saturday we open from 12 pm-6pm. Photo sessions take place in the studio in Nelson Bay or on location at one of the beautiful places in Port Stephens.

Be aware of working schedules and sleep/feed time of younger children. Please check with your entire family to arrange a suitable time and then contact us to arrange your session.

A $50 booking fee is required to secure your booking and will be refunded or credited toward your order on the day of your design appointment. The booking fee is only refunded if you give us more than 3 days notice for the cancellation of your appointment. This covers the loss of the appointment session and/or design appointment and your photographer’s time.

Step 2 – Before the Session

Please watch the studio tour (link coming soon!) and have a look through the portfolio and styles of shooting (on location, in the studio, choice of different backdrops) to get some inspiration and a better idea of what to wear and bring to your session.

I will send out a pre-shoot questionnaire please take 60 seconds to fill it out. Your photographer will then contact you 2-3 days prior to your shoot and will guide you the rest of the way.

  • Try to keep clothing simple and reflect your personality (* don’t buy something new you don’t feel comfortable in). Similar tones work best in photos, it doesn’t need to be the same clothes (that often looks weird) but try and go for similar tones (for instance dark blue with dark green or white with light blue etc.) I often tell my clients to put the clothes out on the bed and check if nothing is jumping out but that all colours are coordinated. Try and avoid bold prints and stripes as they can be distracting. Most important be yourself … if you like to see bright and bold please wear it but be aware those colours could be hanging in your home too!

Step 3 – Your Photography Session

This is where the fun really begins. Please come to your shoot relaxed. I will make it all fun for you! I will personalise your session and create amazing images that capture your families personalities. I don’t like unnatural smiles and forced poses, I just want to capture the real you! Normally a photo session will last about 45 minutes to an hour. Please bring your diary to your photo session so I can book in your design session.

Just before you leave we will take some time to show you the display options. All of our images come finished and ready to display. This is an opportunity to see, touch and hold the products and get a real sense of what will look best in your space.

After your shoot, your images will be edited and prepared for your design appointment.

I will help you every step of the way to select your favorite images and turn them into timeless and unique wall art, which will suit your home. Please allow about an hour for your design appointment and make sure all decision makers are present to help you making a decision on artwork you will enjoy for the rest of your life. All of your artwork comes finished and ready for display, with a range of products to suit everyone’s style and budget.
